WASHINGTON - United States President Donald Trump has defied international norms on the nascent field of deep-sea mining, signing an executive order Thursday expanding the practice for rare earth minerals in domestic and international waters.
This is going to fuck up the oceans. If US violates international agreements to do this, China is going to follow on a much bigger scale and destroy seabeds everywhere. Look at what they’ve done with fishing. If we think environmental damage is bad, we ain’t see nothing yet.
Not that I necessarily disagree that China would do it on a huge scale but what makes you think the US under Trump and his billionaire buddy psychopaths wouldn’t do it on a catastrophic scale already?
