The doorbell rang at a time of day when I don’t like to open," Mr Helberg told television channel TV2

    I feel ya, Mr. Helberg.

Yeah, like between the time I wake up and the time I go to bed really.

So the pilot and the homeowner both slept through the crash? Weed is legal there, isn’t it?

    • Could have very easily been a mechanical failure. There are plenty of examples of cargo ships like that losing engines, losing steering, etc.

The watch officer apparently admitted that he fell asleep. I find it astonishing that such giant ships don’t have an autopilot that can at least stop the ship before it crashes into land. Or a dead man’s switch which would wake up the watch man or someone else.

        • It’s more astonishing to read in the article that this is the second time this ship has run aground in the past 3 years.

Wild. I swear when I read this article it said the pilot was suspected of falling asleep. I must have read a different article. This one says:

The watch officer of a large container ship that ran aground and crashed into a garden in Norway has told police he was asleep at the time of the incident.
