Of course, 8bitdo’s stuff is awesome, but Steam controllers are awesomer.

I broke my first steam controller, and an old xbox controller, beating the final boss of Sekiro. My replacement is more-or-less a shelf ornament at the moment due to its irreplaceable nature. That old man’s got a lot to answer for.

I will also be at the front of the queue for this. Hesitation is defeat, after all.

Actually pretty damn good. Considering the difficulty I had getting frames out of E33 on desktop, having it play reasonably on the go is impressive. 60 fps @ 4K made my PC sound like a vacuum cleaner and was warming up the whole house; really needs some of the upscaling trickery to be comfortable to play.

From the couple of games where I’ve been able to compare; frames per second are exactly the same, but the CPU runs a great deal less hot. No concern on desktop, but that would make a difference on the Steam deck.

(Mark Of The Ninja has a deadlocking issue on native that it doesn’t have on proton, got quite a few of Frictional’s games - Penumbra, Amnesia - that just won’t open on my main monitor when native, and most recently Silksong has been really funny about my 8bitdo controller when native. Works great with my fightstick, though.)

“Double it and add thirty” is accurate enough for ambient temperatures, and easier to do in your head. If you need scientific accuracy then you wouldn’t be using Fahrenheit anyway.

From a UK perspective, a lot of US cars would be illegal to drive on public roads here - too large, too dangerous for pedestrians and other road users. “Dangerous” also applies to some of your other potential exports too. Chlorinated chicken, for instance, isn’t considered safe for consumption. So the absence of a market for those goods isn’t simply “customer preference”.

As a European, we’ve been too dependent on the US on some things for too long. We need to be more independent. The situation in Ukraine has shown that; we need to be able to support our allies better. But the US trashing their own economy, making themselves into global pariahs and handing over their superpower status to China is what I would have described as “not my dream way” of achieving that.
