www.dw.comIn the two days since the new German government under Chancellor Friedrich Merz tightened border controls, 19 people who had applied for asylum have reportedly been turned away.
The issue is that colonialism has depleted the resources of many countries and destabilized them, thus making them unsafe for many today Of course people will try to stay alive by fleeing those conditions. And it’s outrageous to turn them away. Us westerners have it good BECAUSE they have it bad. Doesn’t matter that nobody alive today is responsible for colonialism.
There’s other problems too of course. Like the war in the Congo has nothing to do with a lack of resources and everything to do with greed over the plentiful resources. Also ethnic disputes.
