It feels like there’s reason to inflate those numbers both for Israel and Palestine. Do we know they’re credible? Genuinely asking, I’m not sure from my cursory searx.

206·1 year agoThe issue is that colonialism has depleted the resources of many countries and destabilized them, thus making them unsafe for many today Of course people will try to stay alive by fleeing those conditions. And it’s outrageous to turn them away. Us westerners have it good BECAUSE they have it bad. Doesn’t matter that nobody alive today is responsible for colonialism.

2·1 year agoI’m curious, what do you do when you have the flu or covid or the like and are too sick to shop? I mean, I know some places have affordable grocery delivery, but in places where that’s not the case?

5·1 year agoThat’s a city thing, people only really do that if the shop is on the way. You’d still usually have a supply of cans, pasta, rice etc. either way.
If it makes you feel any better, we have a joke in Austria that we might as well not have an army, because we border 1) NATO, 2) Switzerland, and if either of those become a threat, we might as well capitulate immediately.

I read the first line and was like, yeah, same here, that seems way too long. We do about 5, mid-late November to 26/12/, then the decorations kinda stay but the celebrations and music stop. Then I read the rest. I’m so sorry.
