I had a small restaurant in Europe. We had a nominal monthly flat charge per card payment terminal, something like 9€ Totally reasonable. It made accepting cards viable even for a a single coffee.
The EU is great at dealing with bullshit like that; essentially free bank transfers within EU, and within 24h, keeping surcharges low, consumer protection.

That sounds too good to be true, were they really not taking any cuts from the payments too? If so, can you share the name of the product?

11 monthsOh wait the reason the surcharges are there is to encourage customers to make good choices? You sure is not because some company can make a profit with no effort or investment in what was already there?

Most (all?) fees that are a percentage of the total are straight up criminal. Specifically credit card fees and restaurant tips.
