  • This is not a war being waged there, but systematic mass murder committed by a well-equipped army.

It is, of course, commendable that this soldier has the courage to speak to the press, but the fact that this is still necessary speaks volumes about how morally bankrupt the governments of the Western world are: they continue to conjure up tales of terrorism against Israel, of a defensive war against terrorists, and in doing so condemn an entire ethnic group to the most brutal extermination.

What they are saying is exactly what the monsters in Israel are saying: All Palestinians are terrorists, all deserve to die, regardless of whether they are unarmed, starving, and just want to live—regardless of whether they are children or pregnant women.

This is genocide, not war, but the West is making common cause with the monsters and even supplying weapons for crimes against humanity.

I am ashamed that I have to watch my government do this, and I am also ashamed of my fellow citizens who are against it but are frozen in their apathy and do not have the guts to take even the slightest risk and stand up decisively against this unspeakable inhumanity that our politicians actively support out of greed for money and power.

  • German here: The overwhelming majority of politicians in my home country are also doing everything they can not only to silence voices denouncing the genocide of the Palestinians, but also to actively support these crimes against humanity, among other things by supplying weapons - all this while invoking “our historical responsibility.” This seems almost worse to me, especially because I am convinced that the majority of the population firmly rejects this and wants the opposite course - namely, to hold these monsters in Israel accountable for their crimes.

I am truly ashamed to be German, and I think many of my compatriots feel the same way when they read the daily horror stories from Gaza and have to admit that we are actually promoting this barbarism on the part of Israel. It’s enough to make you cry.

  • Yes, it still amounts to billions in additional tax revenue, which is of course paid for by US citizens rather than the manufacturing countries – but this sum is probably already reserved for the planned tax cuts for the super-rich.

The plan is presumably to finance Trump’s private army through additional cuts in healthcare, environmental protection, education, and all other areas that are counterproductive to fascism.

I’m not a US citizen, but I think this country is screwed.

  • Yes, that’s clear, but I think Teams is still terrible even in this situation. I really can’t imagine a use case where this app would be good choice - even if everyone uses Office. What are the advantages? What are people doing that they couldn’t be done with any other solution? I realize that it’s probably mainly because employees are set in their ways, but is there really an objective reason why Teams it has to be team? And as I said, I mean that even if you ignore the data protection nightmare that this application is.

Edit: Sorry, I probably misread that. I assume you use Teams because every employee has an MS365 subscription anyway. That seems like a waste of money to me tho, because every Office app can be replaced with a free open source app – except perhaps in the few cases of Excel power users. But that’s just my opinion – in corporate practice, things look very different.

  • That doesn’t surprise me, because Drump’s absurd import tariffs are interpreted by numerous economists as a sign that the US is actually bankrupt.

Judging by its national debt and weak economy, the US would probably have been bankrupt years ago if the dollar weren’t a reserve currency. That’s precisely why it’s so absurd.

The so-called Mar-a-Lago Accord, which is anything but an agreement, seems to me to be a desperate attempt at blackmail, playing off the (conventional) military power of the United States against the rest of the world - as far as I know, most economists consider this to be completely bonkers.

I, on the other hand, think that this serves two main purposes: to maintain the illusion among the US population that the US is still the superpower it was in the 1980s (it is not), and to personally enrich the US president and his partners.

  • This unlawful attempt at forced brainwashing is truly scandalous and absolutely intolerable with its repugnant double standards.

No one disputes that the terrorist attack by Hamas was brutal.

Nevertheless, this by no means justifies the genocide being committed by Israel. There are also horrific images of this, of starving children, cold blooderd murder of civilians and unbearable suffering - and Israel is even using every means at its disposal to prevent the world from seeing the full extent of their own atrocities.

If Israel were to adhere even remotely to international law and human rights, Thunberg would not be there.

It is absurd that this country continues to portray itself as the victim. They are the perpetrators and responsible for crimes against humanity.

These savages who represent Israel are truly the scum of the earth.

  • Yes, the chart is not ideal.

However, my intention was simply to give an impression of how ruthlessly Israel prevents any reporting on what is actually happening in Gaza.

I think this comparison is sufficient for that purpose, especially since it puts into perspective the enormously high number of media representatives who have been killed in Gaza. I think this makes also clear that the reason for this is most likely that Israel is deliberately targeting media representatives with all means at its disposal – including murder.

But you are absolutely right: this would become even clearer if it were made more explicit that the enormous number of war killed Journalist in Gaza refers to less than two years while other wars were much longer and also more extensive.

  • I’m afraid the paper doesn’t give a concrete answer to that. The historical figures and the discussion of the Gaza War are used here more as background information or for comparison. The focus is mainly on the challenges of modern war reporting, with an emphasis on the wars waged by the US.

I, on the other hand, only mentioned this study to give an impression of how ruthlessly Israel treats journalists. Or even more than that: that this state is obviously deliberately and by all means preventing objective reporting — the reason seems obvious: in my opinion, Israel is committing crimes against humanity and is doing everything in its power to cover it up, apparently not even shying away from deliberately murdering journalists.

In my opinion, there is no other explanation for the absurdly high number of media representatives already killed in Gaza especially in comparison with other, much longer wars that also had significantly larger conflict zones.

  • This is absolutely typical of this criminal regime – and these are far more than empty threats.

Israel deliberately kills journalists, as evidenced by the fact that more journalists have been killed in Gaza in the last two years “than in the U.S. Civil War, World Wars I and II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War (including the conflicts in Cambodia and Laos), the wars in Yugoslavia in the 1990s and 2000s, and the post-9/11 war in Afghanistan, combined”.
