No, it was a a simple plug and play meme, maybe like “the African Chad” would have made the double joke clear. It’s just subtext as is.
Personally I think Russians should put Zalinsky and Putin in an arena and let them fight it out to decide things. See if Putin still wants war after he gets punched in the face.
