Fair enough. It happens to us all.

Fair enough. It happens to us all.

I think it’s odd that you left out the part explaining what these men aren’t getting called out by their peers for.
These are men writing about their wives, their mums, their mate’s daughter, exchanging images, sharing women’s names, socials and contact details, and no one – not one man – is calling them out. They’re patting each other on the back.”
Men who are doxxing and sharing revenge porn of women is not the same thing as men “looking to fuck” a woman. This is sick sociopathic behavior. It’s weird that you can’t tell the difference.

I hate how many people are already starting in with conspiracy theories. She was sex trafficked as a teenager, for fucks sake. Then her whole life was dragged through the mud in public view while she sought justice. Countless people take their own lives every day under far less stressful circumstances.
She didn’t know anything that Ghislaine Maxwell doesn’t know, and that removed is still breathing.
Its been so painfully obvious this man’s been Putin’s removed since 2016

Encroaching on privacy and hiding behind the idea of “protecting kids” as an excuse to take away from your liberty and private life is lazy.
Go ahead and point out where I said your liberty should be taken away. Using the internet is not an inherent right.
If you want to protect your child from what they might find on the internet, then spend time with them. Don’t pawn this off to the state.
I never mentioned the state. This is like blaming the opioid epidemic on the addict and alleviating Purdue of all responsibility. No amount of personal accountability is going to fix the problem while multi-billion dollar corporations pump an addictive and harmful product into society 24/7.

Sighs.
YouTube isn’t the police.
Verifying your age to access adult/mature content isn’t some novel concept. We absolutely can come up with a way to do this online that at least mitigates the risk of leaked/stolen data to an acceptable level. Doing nothing at all and just letting kids access anything they want on the internet is not a solution, and hiding behind “freedom” as an excuse to abdicate social responsibility is lazy.

Because that data is stored and passed on to third parties in most cases. Because data breeches are a common occurrence nowadays. Because gorvernments and companies can use that data against you later on.
I’m just curious… How did you sign up for internet service? Can you walk me through the process?

Poor parenting is certainly an issue, but saying “it’s not social medias fault” is like saying the opioid epidemic “isn’t Purdue’s fault”. The people who manufacture and distribute the addictive and harmful product should be the first ones we go after. No amount of individual accountability will solve the problem as long as multi-billion dollar corporations are pumping this shit out 24/7.

Second (and I’m not sure how we would do this) cut them off from the internet.
There are a whole bunch of ways to monitor, limit, and even cut off your kids internet usage. If you get your kid a cell phone or computer, you can install apps to monitor and limit what they watch and when. The fact that parents just let their kids freely use the internet with no supervision blows my mind.

If you want to know how it came to be that Palestinians elected and supported Hamas, just watch in real time as Mexican cartels step up to help Mexico resist American imperialism. I guarantee it will play out in an eerily familiar way if Trump keeps playing these games.

Countdown to the UK government apologizing to Israel over this in 5… 4… 3…

I’ve seen Reddit do the same thing for years and always wondered why. It’s super annoying.

If you scroll down beneath the article, there are links to other articles. The graphic is from one called ‘Markets tumble as China announces 34% retaliatory tariffs on US imports’. No idea why Lemmy decided to grab that particular image for this post, though.

up to $1 billion
It will be much less than a billion.
If a fine can be paid without causing financial strain, then it just becomes part of the cost of doing business.
If you want results, fine him $100 billion.

Even more interesting is that her mother (VP Vance’s mother-in-law) was instrumental in advancing DEI at the university she works at (UCSD).
I would pay a lot of money to see a journalist ask JD Vance if he approves of his mother-in-law’s work in promoting DEI. Just knowing how awkward that next family gathering would be would make it worth it.

We’ve become so complacent. A unified community would have intervened, violently if necessary. I would love nothing more than to see a crowd of folks popping out of houses and cars and surrounding these terrorists at gunpoint.

“Join the IDF - We put the infant in infantry”
Not gonna lie, it’s pretty catchy.
Jesus fucking Christ… Qatar is basically a scumbag real estate agent conning an idiot into buying a condemned shack in a swamp as a “cozy waterfront getaway”, but on a colossally stupid level.
