And do they eat the loss on this quasi-monopoly, or do they make a healthy profit?

Not personally interested because gaming on a phone feels like watching a film or a YT video on a phone to me, some sort of transgression, a line that isn’t meant to be crossed, science gone too far etc. but I do understand that many people do it, so maybe it’s not a bad idea, just not for me.
I think I’d prefer it if they took out the arm on-computer stuff out of the steam frame and just made a good PCVR headset with both streaming compressed jpeg slop wirelessly and decoding on headset and an option for proper lossless HDMI streaming + inside-out tracking over USB-C (one cable, two connectors on the PC end for convenience), costing about $500 bux and aimed at PCVR users with decent-ish hardware like 3090s etc.

It’s just like the Quest 2.
It supports some small limited library of games without a PC, but can be used for PCVR for streaming VR experiences over WiFi, exactly like the Quest 2. I have never personally touched any of the on-headset apps on the Quest 2 apart from Virtual Desktop and have only ever used it as a PCVR headset because it’s so cheap compared to the Index etc., and am also looking for an upgrade to the Steam Frame, for PCVR exclusive use.

Did this with Reshade playing that Radiohead Amnesia Exhibition thing and Marvel’s Insomniac’s PS4 Spider-Man on PC. It was great!

If you’re going to, then do now. If you haven’t decided yet then don’t. If you feel like you need one, see if Sunshine/Moonlight and a phone/ipad/ps vita will do just as well.

Child accounts are now allowed to adjust the brightness of the screen.
For some reason I’m imagining a baby being blinded by a really bright screen with no way to adjust it.
Poor baby!

Just hook it up with an HDMI cable??..

My main laptop is literally 16:10, same res as a deck, pretty sure most Macbooks and productivity monitors are 16:10 too, my gf even snagged a 30" 16:10 monitor. Who tf even bothers with 16:9 anymore lmao it’s the worst of all worlds.

Yes my dear less intellectualy gifted friend, it did not, but if you sent it in for maintenance to Toyota in the past say 10 years, and Toyotas made or serviced by Toyota and contractors in the past 10 years started dropping out of the sky and whistleblowers who say the problem has been around for decades start dropping dead, one might wonder whether a systemic issue could also impact the quality of maintenance on older Toyotas.

Boeing had QC issues since the queen of the skies, and especially throughout and after the merger, not just with the initial build but service and retrofits too. This has been a systemic issue since '87. Just because you and the rest of the downvoters don’t know better doesn’t mean it’s not true.

Saw DHL and thought maybe it was an A300. Nope, Boeing. Too early to say but it doesn’t look good on Boeing.

Extreme “gamer aesthetic” cringe to me but someone will love it. I’d love a somewhat shiny rose gold one or a ThinkPad themed or a military olive one though
You’re so close. And if the deck is already unprofitable, then might they be unwilling to incur further losses on it if significant fundamentals changed?
Also lol are you an employee of Valve or Tim Sweeney or something? Because why would anyone be upset at this, it benefits the consumer in almost every way one can think of. I’m no fan of corporations and Steam has some enshittification in it like forced updates, but come on.
