Yeah I only really use track pad as mouse in steam desktop. It’s pretty cool there tho.

Yeah, I started gaming when games were bought on cassette tape. Pretty much anything is an improvement. Though TBF some stuff back then was pretty cool at the time.

Yeah, it’s my only gaming device and I’m about 300 hours in to cyberpunk. I’ve been really enjoying it.

If you can find anything to connect it to.

Honestly, I don’t think there’s much difference. My mate has an LCD, deck, we’ve put them next to each other and they’re both good. Maybe the oled is a bit better in bright rooms. If price is an issue I think you’ll be fine with the LCD.

Steam deck is my only device. I have the 512 oled and am very happy with it. I know other people for whom it’s their only device, I don’t think it’s uncommon. Obviously we have phones, but either don’t need a computer or use one at work and don’t want one at home. Plus the steam deck is a linux computer in a pinch.

I hope so, it would be very convenient. I know there are a fair few 12v and 24v monitors around, I’ve been looking.

Well that’s great news, thanks. Yeah most of my system is 12v, running off a big ole lithium battery which is charged by solar panels. I can do 220v via a 1000w inverter, sounds like this could run a steam machine. Food for thought! Though I’m kinda interested in the steam frame too, waiting to see what the prices are like.

My main issue is how much power it needs. Due to my living situation, I’ll be able to run it only if it needs 1000w or less. I doubt it would be feasible to replace the power supply with something that takes 12v DC. We’ll see. I’m doing okay with my steam deck anyway.

Hurrah! I don’t download much - I don’t have a lot of screen time and I tend to play games slowly - but I also have slow internet, this is great for me. Don’t know why steam deck didn’t do this before but I’m glad it will now.

Cyberpunk. I started it a few months ago, got bored about ten hours in and put it down, played Prey (which was fuckin great!) then I went back to cyberpunk and got the taste. I’m almost 200 hrs in at the mo and loving it. Got a couple more jobs to do then I’m starting the Dogtown stuff. Impressive how well it plays on steam deck.

I’ve been playing cyberpunk and prey on mine recently and I’ve had no problems with either. I don’t count FPS unless it is annoying, but I’ve not noticed any problems with either. Prey looks gorgeous in fact.

Yeah right. If a new steam deck comes out in two or three years, I’ll probably be about ready to upgrade. Right now my existing deck is great and does all I need it to. Best bit of tech I’ve bought in many years.
Thanks, it actually looks like just what I’ve been looking for - but for the lacking load/save thing. I’ll give it a try after work tomorrow and see how it goes. Cheers!
Thanks, I’ll check it out and see if it works.
The problems I’ve had is that everything I’ve tried either doesn’t seem to like the steam deck, or the controls don’t work, or i would need to play it in the browser from desktop.
I’m the kind of player who isn’t very good, wants to play against the computer, and usually I just want to fire up a saved game when I’ve finished my real gaming, make a couple of moves, and save the game until next day. If it takes a lot of faff with desktop, graphics settings, etc - I just wouldn’t end up using it.
I guess I’m just a little surprised I’ve not found something simple and steam deck verified. Thanks for your suggestions, I’ll check em out!
Just to add that I did buy shotgun king and I’m enjoying it. But it’s not plain chess, and that’s what I am looking for!

Honour is just their excuse, of course - it’s really just about controlling women. These weak fuckers feel their control slipping and their go-to is murder.

They’re definitely bigger!
The Lenovo legion go gen 2 looks like a much more powerful machine, especially if you put linux on it. Bigger screen too. However it also costs like two grand.
