If he’s using a modpack, you can just create a new instance in Prism, select CurseForge and install the modpack.

For single mods, you’ll need his mod list and create an instance of the right version. Add a modloader on the same page. Now edit the instance, go to Mods > Download mods and you can download from either CurseForge or Modrinth.
