As lemmy.zip blocks users from the UK, here’s a direct link to Steam:

Does your mechanical keyboard have a lot of RGB? Might be that it draws too much power for the Steam Deck Dock to handle?

Finished Saints Row 2 last week (played 3 and 4 on the Switch a year ago) and now picked up Saints Row 2022. And despite it showing up as “Unsupported” on the store page, it runs great on Steam Deck.

I know, I’m 6 years late to the party

Return to Castle Wolfenstein, then found the RealRtCW mod after a few levels and continued to play that improved version. And now I’m doing Saints Row 2. (Played SR3 and 4 on the Switch several months ago.)

Technically, yes. And you would be able to ask for those taxes back upon returning to your home country (with the same phone). But since this would create huge queues at the airports, nobody actually enforces that.
However, travelling with e.g. 2 Steam Decks or with one in its original packaging raises suspicion and you could get stopped when going through the green portal at the airport.

https://www.douane.gouv.fr/fiche/volume-and-value-based-customs-and-tax-allowances
Value-based allowances, which apply to goods you’re carrying (purchases or gifts), mean that you don’t have to fill in a customs declaration or pay tax or duty. You don’t have to declare goods (including gifts) so long as their total value or their quantity doesn’t exceed the allowance limits.
The overall market value of goods cannot exceed the following amounts:
Arriving by plane or ferry: €430Any item whose value exceeds the limit must be declared and you will need to pay the amount of value added tax (VAT) and customs duties that would usually apply. These duties and taxes apply to the full purchase price on the receipt or an agreed-upon estimated value.
If you are bringing multiple items into the country, each item will count toward your overall limit; once you reach the limit, any surplus goods will be taxed.
Also note that the Steam Deck contains a Li-Ion battery and thus isn’t allowed in the cargo hold. So you’d have to take this into your carry-on onto the plane.
EDIT: Oh, and since it has a Li-Ion battery, you’ll have to take it out of its packaging and have it scanned separately during the security check. At least that’s how it usually is when travelling in the EU.

If you’ve got a slow-ish SD card and a game that compresses very well, then this might be the case. But with a modern card from e.g. SanDisk or Samsung with U3 and A2 certifications, this probably won’t do that much.

And BTRFS with compression and deduplication are great to save space.
I’m not sure I’d go as far as replacing the file system. There’s a plethora of tools to do deduplication on ext4 as well. Albeit manually (or via cronjob).
Also, btrfs seems to be slower for random reads than ext4. At least that was the case back in 2019.

Got my Steam Deck a month ago, got Citron working yesterday and might put my (unpatched) Switch into storage soon…

Uh, The Outer Worlds is quite different to Outer Wilds.

After I really enjoyed “The Outer Worlds” on my Switch, the first games I’m playing on my (only recently bought) Steam Deck are the Fallout FPS games. Finished Fallout 3 last week and am currently enjoying New Vegas.

Try to enable “Game Mode” or “PC Mode” on your TV for that HDMI input. Also check the audio settings for supported formats and play around with the settings.
Also, what dock are you using?
Yeah, 3DSes are expensive in Europe. I’m still angry at myself for not grabbing one for ~100€ when MediaMarkt/Saturn got rid of them.
What external storage are you using? Is it the same that worked so flawlessly on your PS5?
Because I’ve recently bought some M.2 SSD enclosures with a Realtek RTL9210B chip and those seem to be buggy in that the enclosure goes offline for a few seconds after some random time (hours to days).
And I only noticed it because of random disconnect notifications about the one I use for Time Machine.
