A thing can fail for multiple reasons at the same time

that’s fine and all but the problem with the debian based SteamOS were the horribly outdated GPU drivers. The runtime was fine but the OS lacked support for bleeding edge hardware (which is somewhat important for a gaming OS)

tbf back then they picked possibly the worst base for a gaming distro, a problem that has been remedied with the new SteamOS

in my experience that usually boils down to the Linux version getting (an understandably) low priority compared to the windows version. Which is something that won’t change until Linux has a significant market share and I can’t fault the devs for it. For an example of a game where that is not the case I’d like to take Factorio, where the devs went out of their way to properly work on the Linux native version and even include Linux/Mac exclusive features for their next update. But that only happened because one of the devs themselves uses Linux.

Yeah calling this official support isn’t quite what is actually happening. “Windows works now on the SteamDeck OLED” on the other hand doesn’t generate as many clicks…

Then message support that the situation of the game changed and you are now unable to play it after an update. Unless you are in a lawless country that eill essentially force their hand in giving you a refund

I am so glad shit like this is covered by refund policies and consumer protection laws. Gotta check my library for any Capcom games because fuck them for pulling shady shit like this.
It seems the only big developer (well not really anymore) who got the message about Piracy is Steam itself. Everyone else just kinda missed the point entirely.
Note: Moldova also has a bit of a infestation going on, might be interesting to see the Moldovan data split by region. I have a sneaking suspicion that the parts “influenced” by a certain Eurasian autocracy are mostly to blame for the increase
