Europe@feddit.org•UK arrests 83-year-old priest for backing Palestine Action and opposing Gaza genocideEnglish
1524·10 months agoThey’re calling these people terrorists for holding signs calling for the end of Israel’s genocide. They’re not calling the people who have been committing genocide every day terrorists: they’re valuable allies. This is the UK Government’s morality. I hope it’s not shared by the British people.

26·11 months agoThe investment in demonizing scapegoat groups does seem to pay off for the far right. It helps them sell their own ideology as a solution for people’s woes, if they can convince people their problems are caused by the designated scapegoats. It effectively distracts people from the plunder of their lives by rich kleptocrats, while filling them with the kind of misdirected hatred that fascism thrives on.

11·11 months agoI think the intel was wrong
The intel said that Iran was not developing nuclear weapons. The strikes happened because Trump decided to ignore the intel in favor of the random imaginings in his head, and no doubt Netanyahu encouraged him.

Yes, that’s a good point. We both benefit and suffer from humanity’s overly optimistic moments.
often the achievement lasts a lot longer and outweighs the trouble by orders of magnitude.
True too, but Columbus might not be the clearest example of that.
