It’s not war crimes because it isn’t war. It’s the slaughter and starvation of a civilian population. It’s genocide.

It’s one thing to bomb people. Excuse me, I mean “call for air strikes”.
It’s quite another to force starvation on a population of people.
100% war crimes, and it’s not even a matter of opinion at this point. It’s fact.

Please. Asking that question would require Netanyahu to actually reflect and care. Ehud Olmert, while not a saint, at least is acknowledging it.

It really reads like he’s just concerned about the backlash and future implications for Israel on the world stage.
There’s no apology and no admission of the true devastation or intent, for example:
I do not share the opinion of former Chief of Staff Moshe Yaalon, who said that Israel is carrying out ethnic cleansing.
He does not acknowledge the fact that the entire country seems to be pro-genocide, instead placing the blame solely on the current government.
Even though he mentions some of their illegal actions, he still has lots of positive things to say about the “brave” Israeli soldiers.

Thank you so much for sharing this, because I really wanted to read it, but Haaretz is paywalled.
It’s bittersweet. Obviously, Ehud Olmer remains far to my right. He is still a defender of most of the barbarism of Zionism. But I appreciate the moral honesty that brings him to fundamentally recognize and say what many people in both the US and Israel-Palestine have been locked up without due process for saying.
Clearly the former Israeli PM must be a false / self-hating Jew. /s
